Mell Kuhn, the Mayor of Arkansas City in Kansas, put aside his pride to help at a Court Appointed Special Advocates fund raiser. His good intentions backfired. Kuhn appeared in cross dressing as a drag queen and he blackened his face. Kuhn’s photo is here.

The local NAACP activist, Kevin Myles, said he was angry because Mell Kuhn disrespected political correctness. Mell Kuhn had recanted his earlier stance on drag and blackface comedy as “bullshit” and he dressed up for the part. Now, Mell Kuhn claims he is regretful over his shortsightedness. Kuhn said he was very sorry. Kuhn stressed he was solely responsible for his action. It was a potent combo with blackface and drag costume.
