Melissa Lavender, a teacher in South Lake High School, was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. Police said the sex crimes, on June 26, occurred on board a boat docked in St. Clair Shores marina. The boat belonged to a former student’s parents.

Melissa Lavender, 33, was silent and did not talk. Melissa Lavender was alleged to have touched 2 boys, aged 16 and 17. Police said alcohol was involved. Police said the incident was totally out of character for Melissa Lavender.

Melissa Lavender was a teacher for 6 years in South Lake High School. Melissa Lavender has been suspended. Melissa Lavender is married and has 2 young kids. Alcohol testing 4 times daily was made mandatory for Melissa Lavender.

Melissa Lavender was released on her personal bond. Melissa Lavender’s next court appearance is on August 26 2008. Some people in the community and school board gave her strong support.

Melissa Lavendar will be formally charged/ arraigned on March 16.
