Mel Ignatow, who was acquitted of killing his girlfriend, Brenda Sue Schaefer, on Sept 24, 1988, has died. Mel Ignatow died at his home in Carrier Court, Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday, September 1, 2008. Ignatow’s cause of death will be investigated and details will be released later.

Mel Ignatow’s family said he had poor health in the past few years. Mel Ignatow had served jail time for perjury after some pictures surfaced that showed Brenda Sue Schaefer being tortured and killed.
