Mel Hall: Mel Hall sentenced 45 years for rape
By Clarencia Cynrae on June 16th, 2009Mel Hall, a former major league outfielder, has been convicted of sexual assault. Mel Hall was found guilty of inappropriate sexual behavior with a girl, 12 years old. The offence occurred more than 10 years ago when he was coaching a basketball team.
Mel Hall, 48, was convicted on 3 counts of sexual assault and 2 counts of indecency with a child. Hall will be sentenced soon.
Mel Hall’s victim is now a woman, 23 years old. She testified Hall had a sexual relationship with her and the met in her home and his apartment. Hall was first arrested in 2007 by Fort Worth police. Hall has been in retirement since 1996.
Updated June 17 2009 – Mel Hall Jr was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the raping the 12 year old girl. Hall must serve a mandatory 22 and a half years before he can be eligible for parole. hall would be 70 and a half years old by 2031.
