Mel Ferrer’s fim credits includes “Lili,” “War and Peace” and “The Sun Also Rises.” Mel Ferrer was the producer and director of movies starring his wife, Audrey Hepburn.

Mel Ferrer died on Monday, June 2 2008. Mel Ferrer died at his ranch near Santa Barbara. Mel Ferrer’s family spokesman Mike Mena told the news.

Mel Ferrer lived a long and productive life. Mel Ferrer’s most impressive movie was in 1953 in “Lili.” Mel Ferrer played a rippled carnival puppeteer with whom a French orphan (actor Leslie Caron) fell in love.

Mel Ferrer acted as Luis Bello in Robert Rossen’s 1951 depiction of the public and private life of a bullfighter in “The Brave Bulls.” That movie was based on a Tom Lea book. Mel Ferrer and starred opposite Hepburn in 1956’s “War and Peace.”
Mel Ferrer turned more to directing and producing for movies and TV as he grew older.

Audrey Hepburn, when she was alive, said that acting depressed Mel Ferrer. Audrey Hepburn revealed that Mel Ferrer felt the opposite with directing. Mel Ferrer loved direcing and he was relaxed with directing work.

Mel Ferrer and Audrey Hepburn had become engaged in 1954. Mel Ferrer and Audrey Hepburn appeared together in the New York play “Ondine.” Mel Ferrer and Audrey Hepburn married later that year in Burgenstock, Switzerland.

Mel Ferrer and Audrey Hepburn divorced in 1968. Mel Ferrer married his fourth wife, Elizabeth Soukhotine, in 1971.

Mel Ferrer and Audrey Hepburn costarred in a television version of “Mayerling.” Mel Ferrer directed Audrey Hepburn in the 1959 film “Green Mansions.”

Mel Ferrer directed Audrey Hepburn in 1967’s “Wait Until Dark.”

Luca was born Luca Ferrer. Andrea Dotti was his step-father after his mother Andrey Hepburn divorced Mel Ferrer and married Andrea Dotti. While Luca was young, Andrea Dotti acted like a father for him. Some people associated Luca  with the surname of Dotti. They thought he was Luca Dotti.
