McKell Shurtliff, 23, was a former assistant softball coach at Payson High School. Shurtliff, a female, was arrested Friday, May 1, on suspicion of engaging in a sexual relationship with a female minor, 15 years old, on the softball team.

Shurtliff was accused of having done a series of unlawful acts during 3 months in 2008. Police said Shurtliff may have had at least 5 sexual encounters with the girl.

Shurtliff admitted to police she knew the sexual relationship was illegal. Shurtliff said she loved the teen. Payson High School dismissed McKell Shurtliff in Nov 2008 when they came to know about the case.
