McCain pulls out of Michigan as he recognizes the lost cause in Michigan. Michigan blames the Republicans for the state of the US economy. Michigan is huge and millions have to be dumped into campaigning in a possibly lost state so that may be why McCain is pulling out of Michigan. Other consequences were discussed in the source.
