Maya Arulpragasam, aka M.I.A., or MIA, gave birth to a baby son. MIA went home after her Grammy Award performance on Sunday, Feb 8. MIA blogged she felt her early labor pains at 2 am. MIA’s firstborn was delivered on Wednesday, Feb. 11. This baby boy is MIA’s first child with her boyfriend, Benjamin Brewer, the frontman for “The Exit.”

MIA is engaged to Ben Bronfman (aka Benjamin Brewer). Bronfman was a former member of The Exit.

MIA has edited the Hollywood press on her blog. MIA wrote that contrary to popular gossip, she ddi not name her son Ickett. Mia refused to reveal her baby’s name. She said her baby did not need the press. (source)

Mathangi Maya Arulpragasam named her son Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman. That is pronounced as “ickid”? MIA’s birthdate listed on her son’s birth certificate is 7/18/75. MIA is 33.
