He resisted police warning and was arrested. Later, Newton was released, after he posted $2000 bond.
Newton was the former boyfriend of Rachael Taylor, an actress. In 2010, Taylor complained that Newton had assaulted her, while they were in Rome.
In 2007, Newton was arrested for beating up his then girlfriend, Brooke Satchwell. Newton pleaded guilty.
