Lance Corporal Patrick Malone died when his superior’s 9mm pistol fired at his head. Patrick Malone died. Corporal Matthew Nelson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment for the death on March 9 2009.

Matthew Nelson was sentenced on Thursday, Sep 10. Nelson received 8 years in Camp Lejeune’s brig. Nelson was demoted to the lowest rank in the Marines. The last disgrace was a bad conduct discharge.
