Matt Smith, 26, has been chosen to play Dr Who. Matt Smith is the youngest actor to play Dr Who. Smith has an extensive resume on stage and TV. Smith was born on Oct. 28, 1982. Smith wanted to become a football player but was persuaded to take up drama studies after a back injury.

Matt Smith,in his videoed interview, said he was very honored to be selected to play Dr Who. Smith said several generations of his family watched Dr Who since 1963. Smith related how excited he was when he first received the news of his Dr Who contract. Smith said he felt such an iconic role carried a great amount of responsibility.Smith felt intolerably pressurized not to be able to talk about until BBC decided to reveal the new Dr Who to the public. Matt Smith is now the 11th Dr Who!
