Matt Lauer had an accident. During the weekend, Lauer was on his bicycle when he came up to a deer. Lauer was injured. Lauer was absent from the Today show as a result of the deer encounter. There are no details about it.

Meredith Vieira, Lauer’s NBC co-host on Today, explained why Lauer was absent. Vieira cracked a joke about the deer being hired by her to take down Lauer. Lauer joked that the deer was hired by Today’s competitor.
