Matt Garcia, 22, a Fairfield city councilman, was shot at the back of his head outside his friend’s house.

Matt Garcia was shot while he was talking to a friend in the neighborhood in Fairfield. A gunman fired several shots and drove off in a car at 8:30 pm, Monday, Sept 1. Garcia was warded at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. His condition is critical and his parents are at his bedside. Matt Garcia was an ex prom king and student leader. Garcia was the youngest leader elected to the City Council in Nov 2001, when he was 21.
