By Therese Lisieux on March 14th, 2009

Matt Davis, 19, a skier at Alyeska Ski Resort, was billed for his rescue. Alyeska billed Matt Davis because he skied in an area that was off limits. Davis was asked to pay $845 for rescuing him after he had his accident on February 28.

Alyeska Ski Resort had marked and roped off their slopes on Mount Alyeska. This is the largest ski resort in Alaska. Alyeska’s assistant patrol director, Ben Habecker, said it took 13 experienced ski patrolers to rescue Matt Davis after he suffered a leg fracture. Davis had hit a tree in the area that was off limits to skiers.

Matt Davis has been banned from skiing at Mount Alyeska for one year.
