Mason Samborski, a police officer from Oak Park, was shot and killed by a teen. Samborski had stopped the teen for driving without a licence. Samborski, 28, then placed the teen inside his police care and drove to a nearby complex. Police said Samborski could have been trying to return the teen to an adult’s custody or trying to establish his identity.

Samborski brought the teen to an apartment and there was a struggle. Samborski was shot. Samborski died at Providence Hospital, Oak Park, Michigan. The teen ran away but surrendered himself in Detroit. Police have refused to name the teen.

Samborski had served the Oak Park police for 4 years. Samborski left behind his wife and a child.
