Martin Jones: Martin Jones eye sight restored (photos)
By Clarencia Cynrae on July 3rd, 2009Martin Jones, 42, was given a new eye after being blind for the last 12 years. Jones lost his eyesight after a tub of hot aluminium exploded at his workplace in a scrape yard. Jones received a special operation that used a part of his tooth to become a lens holder.
Jones, of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, UK, started to see immediately after his doctor removed his bandages. Jones saw his wife of 4 years for the first time. Jones had gotten married after he was blinded by his work accident.
Surgeon Christopher Liu, pioneered the operation. Dr Liu is a specialist dealing with corneas. Dr Liu works as the Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Sussex Eye Hospital in Brighton, UK. Dr Liu is the President of the British Society for refractive Surgery.
