Mark McEwen: Mark McEwen book & lawsuit (photo)
By Clarencia Cynrae on September 7th, 2009Mark McEwen lost his medical negligence lawsuit against Dr Michael Bond and Baltimore Washington Medical Center. McEwen suffered a major stroke in an airplane and that ended his TV career with CBS. McEwen received a wrong diagnosis when he was admitted into the Baltimore hospital and examined by Dr Bond.
Dr Bond claimed the paramedics failed to mention to him that McEwen had slurred speech, which would be a sign of a suspected stroke. Dr Bond diagnosed McEwen to be having stomach flu. Two days later, McEwen had a stroke in an airplane.
McEwen had a long road to recovery as he learned how to use his left hand to help himself in his daily tasks. McEwen fought hard to re-learn the basics like talking and walking.
McEwen lost his TV career but has used his experiences to build a second career. McEwen now works as a speaker on stroke and the rehab process. “After the Stroke: My Journey Back to Life,” is a book by Mark McEwen, to record his journey and share it with others.
