Mariska Hargitay gave an update on the status of her condition. Hargitay has credited her husband, Peter Hermann and her son, August Hermann, 2, for helping her recuperate from her lung injury. Hargitay said August taught her the power of laughter as a medicine. Hermann helped to keep her sane and focused on their goals.

Mariska Hargitay has established her own “Joyful Heart Foundation” to raise awareness about sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, and heal, educate and empower survivors.

Richard Belzer, an actor in “Law & Order: SVU”, was a guest on The View Wed., Jan 14. Belzer confirmed the news about Mariska Hargitay suffering a collapsed lung. Belzer said Hargitay’s injuries stemmed from a sledding accident. Belzer asked for prayers or good thoughts for Hargitay.

In the same breath that Belzer had used to appeal for prayers, he said Hargitay was doing well.

Mariska Hargitay, an actress in “Law & Order: SVU”, has a collapsed lung after an illness. Hargitay has a pneumothorax. Hargitay, 44, intends to carry on working.

Hargitay was on vacation when she sustained her injury. Hargitay was nominated for a best actress Golden Globe Award for her role in a TV drama but she bailed out of attending. Presumably, Hargitay wanted to rest.
