Mario Scramuzza, 48, was strangled and beaten in his homein Covington. Scramuzza was an emergency medical technician in St Tammany Parish. Scramuzza worked with the Tammany Parish Fire Department in LaCombe.

Scramuzza’s wife, Gina Scramuzza, is charged with his death. Gina Scramuzza admitted her role in hiring a contract killer to murder her husband. Carlos Rodriguez, 38, was charged in this case. Rodriguez was said to be Gina Scramuzza’s friend. Police expect more arrests soon.

Gina Scramuzza was questioned by police. Scramuzza gave inconsistent statements. Slowly, she broke down and eventually confessed she was involved in Mario Scramuzza’s death.

Gina Scramuzza and Carlos Rodriguez were charged with first degree murder. They are held in jail without bond.
