Margery Tannenbaum, a social worker, was angry with her daughter’s friend, who is a 9 year old girl. The girls attend the same school in Hauppauge, New York. Tannenbaum posted a Craigslist ad about a blond, cute female who needed affection. Tannenbaum gave away the girl’s name and telephone number.

The girl’s mother intercepted the telephone calls and discovered what had happened. Craigslist was issued a subpoena and the account details of the poster were revealed to be from Tannenbaum. Tannenbaum’s lawyer claimed the whole matter was being blown out of proportion. The girl victim’s mother said Tannenbaum’s act was scary as she attacked a young girl.

Tannenbaum was charged with aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a minor. tannenbaum pleaded not guilty. Her next court date was scheduled for late July.
