Marcos Costa, 43, of Massachusetts, was arrested on Wednesday, April 1. Costa was accused of vehicular manslaughter and felony reckless driving. Costa has been jailed in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Costa drove his truck on a mountain route that was banned to big vehicles for the reason that brakes get burned on the steep grade. On Wednesday, April 1, Costa’s vehicle entered a town in suburban Los Angeles and smashed into cars and a bookstore. Costa’s truck was suspected to have failed brakes because they were burned traveling on the forbidden road. Two people were killed. Twelve people were injured.

Angel Jorge Posca, 58, and his daughter, Angelina Posca, 12, were killed. The Porcas were in their red Ford sedan when Costa’s truck crushed them.
