May 7 2009 – Manny Ramirez has tested positive for a performance enhancing drug. Ramirez will be suspended for 50 games without pay. Ramirez will lose $7.7 million but the LA dodgers said they will welcome him back after the suspension.

Manny Ramirez explained he visited his physician for a health problem. Ramirez was prescribed a medication which did not contain a steroid. The medicine was banned under the MLB policy. Ramirez said the mistake was his responsibility. Ramirez said he was advised not to say anything beyond these statements.

Ramirez wanted to remind everyone that he had a clean record for the past 5 seasons. Ramirez had taken 15 drug tests in his 5 seasons.

Ramirez apologized to Mr and Mrs McCourt, Mr Torre, The LA Dodger organization and Dodger fans. Ramirez said he was sorry about the situation. Manny Ramirez did not want to challenge the 50 game suspension imposed on him.
