Mandy Lynn Nelson, 33, of Crosby, was driving when her vehicle crossed the centreline and hit the trailer tandem axles of an oncoming vehicle (a semi-tractor trailer). Mandy Nelson died on Saturday morning, Dec. 6.

Mandy Nelson was sent to Crosby Hospital and pronounced dead. The Nelson kids; Mathew Nelson, 11, and Jenna Nelson, 7, were sent to Trinity Hospital in Minot. The Nelson kids were sent in for observation.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that the Nelson family was wearing seat belts when the accident happened. The other vehicle, the semi-tractor trailer, was driven by Gerhard Pries, of Steinbach, Man. Pries had a passenger, Minna Pries. The Pries were not hurt in the accident. However, their vehicle was damaged. The damage was assessed at $8000.
