By Clarencia Cynrae on September 17th, 2009Lucia Zarate (1864 – 1890) was the first female and person identified as possessing Majewski Osteodysplastic Primordial Dwarfism type II. Lucia Zarate won a place for herself in the Guinness Book of World Records as the lightest adult weight ever recorded.
Zarate was 4.7 pounds (2.1 kg) when she was 17 years old. Zarate worked as a circus exhibit. In 1890, when Lucia Zarate was about 26, she died of hypothermia or some other illness.
When she was 12 years old, she stood at 20 inches tall and weighed only 5 pounds. Zarate started work in the circus as a human exhibit when she was 6 years old. Zarate was summoned to Britain to appear before Queen Victoria on Feb 26, 1881.
