Lori Drew: Drew vindicated on Megan Meier

Updated July 2 2009 - A federal judge has overturned Lori Drew’s guilty conviction. The judge said violating a website’s terms of use is not a federal crime. Drew had violated the terms of use by masquearding as a person she was not but that was not a crime. Lori Drew is vindicated.

Lori Drew is accused of conspiracy and identity fraud to inflict emotional distress on Megan Meier, 13. Megan Meier committed suicide after some messages left by Lori Drew, who was disguised as a teenaged boy, Josh Evans. Lori Drew was accused of using a fake identity to spy on Megan Meier to discover what Meier thought about Drew’s daughter, Sarah.

In this trial, Lori Drew was accused of cyber bullying Megan Meier. Drew was not accused of directly causing the death of Meier.
