Lori Berenson, convicted for aiding leftist guerillas, is serving 20 years in a Peru prison. Berenson has just given birth to a baby son on Wednesday, May 6. Berenson married Anibal Apari Sanchez, 45, in 2003. Peru jails allowed conjugal visits. Berenson and Sanchez named their son Salvador Anespori Apari Berenson.

Lori Berenson had back problems. Berenson had to give birth via Caesarean section at 3 weeks. She would require surgery on her back in the near future.

Berenson was arrested in 1995. Berenson was charged for being a leader of MRTA, a leftist insurgency in Peru. Berenson was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. The US government objected. A civilian court tried Berenson in a new trial. Berenson received 20 years in prison. Berenson has served 13 years and may get parole in 2010.

Lori Berenson was born on Nov 13, 1969 so she is going to be 40 this year.
