Liu Shuzhen is an engineer from Taiwan, who may have been scammed. Ms Liu said she met a man who told her he was General Petraeus, the director of America’s CIA.

Ms Liu met the so-called Petraeus through Skype. The man said he needed money in exchange for his checks. Its the oldest fake exchange but Liu wired him money, to the tune of $30,000. She received some checks to cover the amount and a ring. The fraud promised to marry Ms Liu.

When she tried to cash the checks, she was arrested for forgeries. Police tried to convince Ms Liu she was scammed but she refused to believe them. She still thought General Petraeus was hiding to protect his his love for her. Furthermore, Liu hopes that the media would highlight her case, to persuade Gen. Petraeus to fly to Taiwan to see her. This isn’t the first time a fraudster has pretended to be Petraeus. Others have reported that someone was using the General’s good name, on Skype.
