By Therese Lisieux on April 20th, 2009Lionel Tate won the dubious honor of being the youngest person sentenced to life imprisonment without paraole. Lionel Tate was 12 when he was convicted of killing Tiffany Eunick in Broward County, Florida.
Tate’s defense lawyer said he killed Eunick accidentally when he was showing her wrestling moves in 1998. After Tate was sentenced, there was widespread controversy and his conviction was overturned in 2004. Tate accepted a plea deal and he had to do one year of house arrest and 10 years of probation.
On Sep 3, 2004, Tate violated his probation. Tate left his home and he was carrying a knife. On May 23, 2005 Tate was charged with burglary with battery, armed robbery and violation of his probation. Tate robbed a pizza delivery person out of 4 pizzas whose value was $33.60. Lionel Tate was sentenced to 30 years for violating probation and possessing a gun on Feb 19, 2008.
