Lillo Brancato Jr: Brancato tried for murdering Daniel Enchautegui
By Clarencia Cynrae on November 25th, 2008Lillo Brancato Jr., an actor and co-star with Robert De Niro in “A Bronx Tale”, is on trial for the suspected killing of Daniel Enchautegui, a police officer. Lillo Brancato, 32, and his friend, Steven Armento, broke into the house of a drug distributor, on Dec. 10, 2005. Police Officer Daniel Enchautegui was the next door neighbour who woke up and confronted the two men. Enchautegui shot at Brancato and Armento but Armento returned fire and killed Enchautegui.
Steven Armento has already been convicted of first degree murder in Oct. and he was sentenced to life in prison. Lillo Brancato’s lawyer said his client was trying to get drugs during the break-in, did not intend to burglarize the house, did not possess a gun, was unaware Armento had a gun and was not going to injure anyone.

Lillo Brancato has been cleared of the charges of murder. Lillo Brancato has been convicted on lesser charges of burglary. Lillo Brancato has been in jail for 3 years while awaiting trial. He could get some credit for his time served. Lillo Brancato will be sentenced on Jan. 9, 2009. The prosecutor said he would seek the maximum penalty of 15 years in prison for Lillo Brancato.
