Leonard Taylor, a former University gridiron player, has been charged with making threats against Maria Sharapova, a tennis player, and Barry Alvarez, his former coach. Taylor was arrested on Fri., Dec. 26. Taylor had allegedly stalked and harassed Barry Alvarez. Alvarez is now the University of Wisconsin athletic director.

Leonard Taylor made telephone calls and left messages threatening to kill Maria Sharapova and her family and Alvarez. Leonard’s father, Mr. Leonard Taylor Sr., told police Leonard was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. Leonard was on medication but he stopped taking them 3 months ago.

Taylor started calling Alvarez in September. Police were informed and they asked Taylor to stop making those calls. Taylor obliged until November. Leonard Taylor Jr was said to have left 29 messages on Barry Alvarez’s voice mail on Nov. 24 and 25. Leonard Taylor allegedly said he wanted to marry Maria Sharapova and kill her and her family.
