Leon Czolgosz was born Leon Frank Czolgosz in May 1873. Czolgosz died in 1901 but he has reserved his place in history. Czolgosz assassinated US president William McKinley.

Czolgosz carried a newspaper article on anarchist Gaetano Bresci’s assassination of the Italian king, King Umberto I, in July 29, 1900. Czolgosz may have been influenced and imitated Bresci in assassinating McKinley.

Czolgosz was tried and convicted on the death sentence. Czolgosz was electrocuted.
