Chip Pickering, former Republican US Representative, has been named by his estranged wife, Leisha Pickering, in a lawsuit against Elizabeth Creekmore Byrd, of Jackson, Mississippi.

Leisha Pickering filed a lawsuit to claim that Chip Pickering an affair with Creekmore Byrd that ruined their marriage and destroyed his political career. Ms Pickering filed an alienation of affection type of lawsuit. Ms Pickering wants unspecified damages.

Ms Pickering alleged that Mr Pickering and Ms Creekmore Bryd had an affair while he was in Congress and staying near the Washington. Mr Pickering retired from Congress in Jan 2009 and has since joined a lobbying firm.

Chip Pickering and Leisha Pickering had filed for divorce in June 2008 and their divorce proceedings are still being processed.
