Lawal Adekunle Nurudeen: Nigeria conman Nurudeen sentenced

By Clarencia Cynrae on March 17th, 2009

Lawal Adekunle Nurudeen, a law undergraduate, ran foul of the law. Nurideen was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Nurudeen cheated an Australian woman by scamming her of $47,000. Nurudeen claimed he was in love with her and needed money.

Nurudeen defrauded the victim by masquerading as Benson Lawson, a white British widower. Nurudeen cheated the woman by telling tall tales and sent a photo of a white man, roughly about the age of 57.

Nurudeen received money for his travel expenses to visit Australia and money for medical treatment. Nurudeen spent the money on two plots of land and a car.

Nurudeen, from Lagos, Nigeria, was caught by the EFCC, (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) and ordered to pay restitution to his victim. Nurudeen has to cough up $10,000 and $250 per month until he completes full restitution. Lawal Nurudeen’s ill gotten gains, the land and car, will be sold and the money remitted back to his victim.

I’m happy to see there is justice at least for one scammed person, like this lady in Australian. I was also scammed and I reported to the EFCC with no response. Wish they would put more efforts to avoid this crime. There are thousands victims of this 419s out there, and this problem is increasing. Western Union and Moneygramm could make something about this, but they just want to make good business! And to “Mr. Lawal Adenkunle Nurudeen”, i just wish him a “pleasent” stay in jail….! :)
