North Korea leader Kim Jong II gave a special pardon to convicted journalists Laura Ling & Euna Lee, after meeting with Bill Clinton. Clinton flew to North Korea for talks to secure the release of Lee and Ling.
Updated June 1 2009 – Laura Ling’s husband, Iain Clayton, said he wrote and sent care packages to his wife in North Korea. Clayton said he was very apprehensive as the trial date of June 4 approaches.

Laura Ling and Euna Lee, reporters for Current TV, are missing. Ling and Lee were captured Tuesday at the China-North Korea border. Current TV is Al Gore’s online media channel. Laura Ling is a Chinese-American while Euna Lee is a Korean-American.
Ling and Lee were detained after they ignored warnings to stop shooting film footage of North Korea. Ling and Lee are American citizens and the US officials are working with representatives to secure their release.
Ling is Lisa Ling’s sister. Lisa Ling is a former co-host of the TV show “The View”. Lisa Ling left The View to become a correspondent for Explorer. Lisa Ling refused to comment on her sister’s situation.
