Updated July 4 2009 – What an Independence Day! This Fourth of July will never just another celebration for the four boaters found after 26 hours in the water.

Douglas Whittaker, 76, his son-in-law Roy Letson, 52, Ron Miller and Larry Vert were rescued on Friday afternoon after being missing for 26 hours. Whittaker, Letson, Miller and Vert caught a heavy load of fish before high waves caused the boat to tip and roll over. The four casual fishermen wore life jackets and clung to the capsized boat.

After Whittaker, Letson, Miller and Vert were rescued, they were sent to hospital for observation. They had been in the water so long that they suffered from hypothermia.
