Krystal Lynn Lewis, 23, and Austin Michael Mullins, 26, were charged with one count each of felony cruelty to animals. Lewis, of Muskogee County, asked Mullins to kill her Jack Russell terrier puppy. The puppy named Poplin was a present from her former female lover.

Mullins allegedly pumped 10 bullets into Poplin with a .22-caliber pistol. Lewis skinned the Jack Russell terrier at her home and dried the hide by nailing it to a board.

After they were arrested, Lewis and Mullins were detained in the Muskogee County Jail. The bails on Lewis and Mullins are $25,000 for each.
