Kristina Lynn Adkins, 16, poisoned her grandmother, Virginia Bentley, 53. Kristina Lynn Adkins admitted and pleaded guilty to second degree murder. Adkins said he wanted to kill Virginia Bentley using her grandfather’s morphine pills into Bentley’s medication. Virginia Bentley died on Aug. 1, 2006.

Adkins received life in prison and started serving her jail time on Fri. Oct 31. Adkins was tried as an adult. Virginia Bentley’s husband, Ireland “Buzz” Bentley Jr. said he missed his wife. Adkins is his step granddaughter. Adkins had cried and apologized in court. However, the court ruled that murder was a severe crime and gave Kristina Lynn Adkins the life sentence.
