On Tuesday, Kerry Thomas, 45, was charged with spreading the HIV virus. This was Thomas’ third charge on HIV transmission. Thomas was convicted and sentenced in 1990. Thomas was released but in 1996, Thomas was again convicted for the same offence of HIV transmission.

For this third charge, prosecutors seek to have Thomas convicted as a persistent violator. This means Thomas may face life imprisonment if he ic convicted.
