Kelsey Peterson, ex school teacher, was sentenced to six years jail. Kelsey Peterson made news last year when she brought a thirteen year old boy to Mexico. Kelsey Peterson, 26, had pleaded guilty to charges of traveling with a minor younger than 18 to have sex. In addition to the 6 years prison, Peterson had five years of supervised release after her jail sentence.

Kelsey Peterson started the relationship with the boy when he was 12 years old. Fernando Rodriguez, now 13, was exposed when school officers in Lexington, Nebraska, announced they discovered Kelsey Peterson and Fernando Rodriguez were having an inappropriate relationship.

Peterson was in court and in tears when she said she accepted her responsibility. Peterson maintained she was not a sexual predator. Peterson had spent 1 year behind bars waiting for her trial. It was anticipated that Peterson would get 1 year off for good behavior, on condition that she does well in jail. The judge, Smith Camp, said that she would not call Kelsey Peterson a sexual predator but instead questioned her maturity factor.

Thursday April 23’s news said Peterson was sentenced for two counts of sexual assault on a minor. Peterson had pleaded guilty. The judge sentenced Peterson to 8 to 10 years in prison. Peterson’s two prison sentences were to run concurrently.
