Kelly Thompson, 10, visited an unmanned tanning salon in Port Talbot, South Wales, in England. Thompson tried out the 16 minute tanning session. Thompson had a bad tanning injury. Thompson was curious and did not expect herself to get severely burned.

Thompson was sent to the Welsh Center for Burns and Plastic Surgery. Doctors said Thompson had 70% burns on her body. Doctors have ordered her to remain out of direct sunlight for the next 10 years. Kelly Thompson wants to pass the message that she thought all unmanned tanning salons should be shut down.
