Kelly Clarkson has been named by Self Magazine as one of its choices for the Top Ten Most Inspiring Women of 2009. Calrkson was featured on the cover of Self magazine for its September 2009 issue. Some airbrushing was done. Clarkson looked slimmer.

Critics said the airbrushing was excessive and left an image which did not portray the real Kelly Clarkson. Self denied this. Self magazine said they only did the usual amount of touch up brushing that they did for all their cover personalities.
