Katie Stam, Miss America 2009, is engaged. Brian Irk, her boyfriend, proposed to Katie Stam publicly on Friday night, Jan 29. The venue was at a fundraising gala, where a crowd of at least 600 attended.

Brian Irk proposed to Katie Stam in a touching gesture when he got down on one knee. Irk gave Stam an emerald engagement ring. Stam’s reign as Miss America ends on Saturday, Jan 30, when the new Miss America is crowned.

Stam and Irk will return to Indianapolis to start a new life. Stam said they will plan for a wedding to happen on the fall of 2010.
