Karine Ruby: Snowboarder Olympics Champion Karine Ruby died

Karine Ruby, a snowboarding champion in the 1998 Olympics, has died. Karine Ruby died in a mountain climbing accident on Mount Blanc, in France. Ruby died tragically at the age of 31 on Friday, May 29. Mount Blanc is a treacherous slope that has claimed many lives.

Karine Ruby was attached to a rope that was used by a line of climbers. When Ruby fell into a deep crack, her weight pulled a few other climbers into the crevasse too.

Karine Ruby was a 6 time winner of world championships with 65 snowboard World Cup victories. Ruby won two Olympic medals in the 1998 and 2002 Olympics.
