Kari Callin, 43, has a cleft palate, which she said prejudiced her when she tried to audition for a job as a singer on a cruise ship. Callin works as a radiology technician but says her heart is in singing. Callin auditioned for America’s Got Talent and woowed the crowd into giving her a standing ovation. Kari Callin has been hailed as America’s answer to Susan Boyle.

David Hasselhoff was so excited he shouted “Yes!” as Callin sang. Sharon Osbourne dissed the cruise ship staff who rejected Callin. Piers Morgan said to forget the cruise ship; they were sending her on to Las Vegas.
