JW Lown, 32, the former Mayor of San Angelo, has quit his office. JW Lown quit for his gay partner. Lown said he wants to be with his male partner, a Mexican who can not live in the US, or has no legal status to be in the US. Lown was the Mayor of San Angelo for 3 terms. Lown won a landslide victory for his 4th term but he chose to be true to himself and quit public office.

Lown refused to identify his new partner. However, Lown said that he wished to return to San Angelo if the community would welcome him back. Lown is currently in Mexico waiting for his partner to get a valid visa to enter the US legally.
