Justin Barrett, a police officer in the Boston Police Department, may lose his job. Justin Barrett,36, had served the police force for 2 years. Barrett was the latest victim of the fallout of Henry Gates’ scandal.

What did Barrett do to get stripped of his gun and badge? Barrett wrote a letter in reaction to the media’s coverage of Henry Gates’ arrest on July 16. Barrett called Gates a “jungle monkey” in his letter.

The Police Commissioner Davis removed Barrett’s gun and badge. Next week, Barrett will be subjected to a hearing to determine if he should be terminated. The Boston Police Patrolmen’s Assocation is the police officer’s union and they will give Barrett legal representation.
