Julien Chautard: Arsonist Julien Chautard escaped

By Clarencia Cynrae on March 31st, 2009

Julien Chautard, 39, escaped from London’s Pentonville prison on Friday, March 27. Chautard, 39, was a convicted arsonist. Chautard was sentenced to 7 years in prison for his crimes for starting two fires.

Chautard gave his officers the slip after the van carried him into prison. He was counted in the entry and escaped by clinging onto the under belly of the security van. When the van drove away, it carried Chautard with it.

Chautard was only discovered missing when the prison’s CCTV footage was checked about 7 hours later. Prison officers saw a shadow under the van which was not present before. Julien Chautard has wide connections in London and France. Catching him will be difficult.
