Juliane Koepcke was a survivor when her airplane crashed on Dec 24, 1971. Koepcke fell more than 3 km from the sky strapped to a row of airplane seats. Koepcke, then 17, thought the cabin debris might have helped her to land on the thick foliage as she had only minor injuries. Koepcke trekked through the jungle and eventually found help.
