Juan Carlos Rivera: Coral Gables High School Rivera died

Coral Gables High School saw a stabbing. Coral Gables had a stabbing death. Two boys from Coral Gables High School had a fight on Tuesday, Sep 15. One boy in Coral Gables, Juan Carlos Rivera, 17, died from stab wounds while the other boy, Andy Jesus Rodriguez, has been detained in police custody.

Coral Gables High School went into lockdown after staff and authorities responded to the fatal stabbing.

Juan Carlos Rivera and another boy were apparently fighting over a girl. The stabbing was witnessed by at least one student at Coral Gables, who told her parent the boys fought over a girl.

Coral Gable High School does not use a metal detector to scan students for weapons. Students at Coral Gable are occasionally spot checked for weapons.
