Joshua Duane Barnes, 21, of Amarillo, Texas, has escaped from custody. Barnes fled from the University of Texas Medical Branch prison medical center, in Galveston. Barnes escaped on Saturday night, Sep 19.

Barnes is a convict serving 35 years for burglaries and assault. Barnes has a track record of escapes from custody.

Barnes was in the medical center for treatment after he got injured during a fight in prison on Wed, Sep 16.

Barnes escaped through an air vent in the ceiling. Barnes used blankets to form a rope to rappell down the wall.
